Experience Sadiri Naturally
- Sadiri Lodge
- Madidi National Park
- Indigenous Uchupiamona
Sadiri Lodge is located here, within Indigenous Uchupiamona territory, nestled at the base of the Bolivian Andes, within the vast expanse of Madidi National Park. At Sadiri Lodge we offer you an exclusive and comfortable experience of the splendor of the world´s most biodiverse protected area, as found by a two-year survey of the biodiversity of Madidi National Park completed in 2018.
To protect the area from illegal logging activities and many other threats, Sadiri Lodge conceived by Ruth Alipaz Cuqui, an Indigenous Uchupiamona defender of indigenous rights. Aided by the expertise and knowledge of Uchupiamona guide Sandro Valdez, Sadiri Lodge was built together by the Uchupiamonas as a community endeavour.
To this day, Sadiri Lodge remains committed to their mission of sustainability and conservation, creating sustainable rainforest lodgings while simultaneously securing the livelihood of the Indigenous People of San Jose de Uchupiamonas.
We proudly welcome you to experience the stunning mega diversity and beauty of our ancestral territories. Your personal interests and comfort during your patronage at the heart of our priorities.
Why Choose Sadiri
At just a 45 minutes flight from La Paz, Bolivia, and a three hour drive from the airport of Rurrenabaque, Sadiri Lodge is a great escape to peaceful cabins inside the intact forest of Madidi National Park.
At Sadiri Lodge we welcome you to enjoy our exclusive lodgings and the simplicity of comfort of a temperate forest lodge while being surrounded by the astounding biodiversity of where the Amazon, Andes, and Pampas biospheres meet.
Here are some of Sadiri Lodge´s special qualities that will make your visit to the Bolivian Amazon a unique experience:
- With approximately 15 km (9 miles) of roads and trails, Sadiri Lodge is a great place to walk and hike. Due to the mountainous structure of the area, some of our trails are steep, but well designed, and maintained to show you the wonder of a virgin and pristine forest. For those who desire an experience requiring less walking effort while still escaping to a beautiful forest, our main road has almost no vehicular traffic, and there are trails in the lower area of our lodge which are significantly less steep.
- Sadiri Lodge has over 500 of the 1,000 bird species that have been registered in the vast expanse of Madidi National Park.
- We are located at an altitude of 900 m.a.s.l. (2,953 feet), where the Andes merge with the Amazon, offering you a cool, pleasant climate, in contrast to the hot, humid weather of a tropical rain forest. We are naturally air conditioned!
- We offer private cabins in a fantastic location surrounded by a beautiful primary forest that is hundreds of years old. Our cabins are furnished with very comfortable large beds and our private bathrooms are equipped with hot water and 24 hour a day electricity. Our priority is to provide you total comfort and a pleasant rest!
- Sadiri Lodge counts with six cabins and has a maximum occupancy of a total of 13 people, with the intention of a more exclusive and private experience while allowing any visit to remain low-impact to the habitat.
- While staying at Sadiri Lodge you will be able to enjoy a variety of local, fresh, and delicious food, served at each meal. Our menu includes traditional cuisine and is prepared with organic ingredients, produced by us the Uchupiamona Peoples, within our community.
- Sadiri Lodge is an excellent location for anyone interested in natural history. Here you can experience a wealth of diversity in trees, plants, birds, butterflies, snakes, and amphibians. The area is home to six different species of monkeys, including the locally endemic one, which is called “Lucachi” (Callicebus olallae), as well as an astonishing insect biodiversity.
- The local water springs and spectacular landscapes offer a mystical contact with the jungle. Come and exchange knowledge with Uchupiamona Indigenous People and guides or perhaps, if you wish, visit the Uchupiamona Indigenous Community.
- This wonderful, untouched forest can still be experienced in the area thanks to the self-managed Sadiri Lodge project, which in 2009, avoided a forest concession for the logging of 31,000 ha (76,603 acres) of this virgin forest. By visiting us, you become part of our effort to protect these native Amazonian forests and the many species of wildlife which thrive here.
- All income from the Sadiri Lodge project is redistributed to allow for the continuation of Uchupiamona stewardship of this area against the multiple threats that face our Indigenous Territory, and to ensure the further benefit of the 63 members of our community, who are proud members of the Sadiri Lodge initiative.
- Your interests are unique and important to us, so it is most important that we strive to provide private and personalized services according to your needs and requirements. Our team will have the pleasure of welcoming you and ensuring you have the best experience possible during your visit to Sadiri Lodge.
Your visit directly supports Indigenous conservation and provides a livelihood for the San José de Uchupiamonas community. We look forward to welcoming you for a private, personalized rainforest experience.
